Founded in 2001, A Better Chance Foundation Inc. (ABCf) was created by a group of friends who shared one vision: to open doors of opportunity through education. What began with preschool support and a Night High School program in partnership with the Dominican Order has grown into a thriving college scholarship program, now anchored by a strong partnership with the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP).
For over two decades, ABCf has supported talented students who might otherwise face barriers in completing their education. Many of our scholars have gone on to successful careers, with some even welcomed into the companies of our generous donors.
Our work is made possible by the commitment of corporate partners, foundations, families, and individuals who believe in the transformative power of education. Together, we continue to create better chances—one scholar at a time.
A Better Chance Foundation is honored to support a pioneering program at the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City)—the launch of its first college degree program for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs).
For the past three years, La Salle Green Hills Alternative Education has provided online Senior High School classes to around 100 PDL learners. August 2025 marked a major milestone: about 50 Grade 12 graduates will continue to college, opening the doors to new opportunities for their future.
To support the initiative, ABCf joined the International Women’s Day turnover ceremony in March 2025, donating an 85-inch TV, speakers, and microphones to enhance the learning environment. Alongside partners, Cartwheel Foundation provided hygiene kits, while P&A Foundation contributed laptops, English-Filipino dictionaries, sanitary napkins, and pledged bookkeeping training for selected scholars.
ABCf extends heartfelt thanks to CIW leadership, La Salle Green Hills Alternative Education, P&A for a Cause, Cartwheel Foundation, Punongbayan & Araullo volunteers, Springboard Foundation, Anonuevo Credit and Collection, and all partners and individuals who made this program possible. Special recognition goes to ABCf Development Manager Dinna Sarmiento, who coordinated the initiative.

A Better Chance Foundation (ABCf) is proud to support the Education on Wheels (EOW) Program, an initiative of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Open University System (PUP-OUS) that brings quality college education directly to underserved communities. Through this mobile classroom program, students no longer need to travel far or bear heavy expenses to pursue a degree—education comes to them, right where they are.
As of March 2026, about 50 scholars from Tondo are currently enrolled under the EOW program through ABCf’s partnership with Upskills+ Foundation Inc., a long-time collaborator in community-based learning and development. Upskills+ facilitates ground operations and student support, led by: Jane Walker (Founder) Annie Santos (Finance Manager), Jannen Montiban, LPT (OIC for Community Education & Mentoring Program), Mary Rose Armario, RSW (Welfare/Program Manager), and Angela V. Amoyan (CEMP Officer/ALS Teacher).
